You will then receive a thorough dental cleaning by your New York City dentist. To reduce discomfort during cleaning caused by heavy tartar and calculus buildup, it is softened using Dentsply Sof-Scale gel. If any pockets are diagnosed we will have you return after the gingiva have had a chance to heal from this initial cleaning. Your doctor will then re-measure your gingival pockets and consider root planing if any pockets persist. The goal of this treatment is to debride the pockets and allow for gingival reattachment to the tooth.
