Cosmetic Dentist Digital X-Rays

Serving New York City & Manhattan, New York

At the New York Cosmetic Dentist Office of Dr. Michael Iott & Associates, we use the best dentistry technology available to give you superior dental results and the most pleasant and comfortable visit possible. One of the excellent advantages we offer you is digital radiology.

We use the digital X-ray machine offered by Panoramic Corporation specifically for dentists. The Panoramic Corp. stays in touch with dentists nationwide to stay up-to-date with what the dental needs are. They then design and manufacture X-ray equipment to meet those needs.

Advantages of Digital X-rays

Less X-Ray exposure
The digital X-ray machine gives only about 10% of the X-ray exposure that traditional X-rays give.

Greater Accuracy and Detail
The equipment can be set to any degree of magnification, even up to 1800 times as large as the actual teeth or gum area being X-rayed. It can be programmed for colorization, and will give the highest degree of accuracy possible.

Easier Access to the images
The X-ray images appear on the computer monitor, so that you can look at them along with Manhattan Cosmetic Dentist Dr. Iott. He can point things out to you and explain what they mean, and can answer your questions. This makes it a good tool for patient education, something we prioritize highly in our dental practice.

Greater Patient Comfort
There are none of those square, uncomfortable film containers in your mouth while the dentist leaves the room to flip the X-Ray switch. Instead, a flat electronic sensor is placed and the X-rays are directed to that. There is no discomfort.

A Faster Process
You do not need to wait while the X-ray films are developed. The images are sent electronically to the computer, and appear quickly on the screen.

Easier Comparison With Previous X-rays
Using a process called Subtraction Radiography, the computer software can quickly compare two images, removing all things which are the same, and leaving only the different features. This gives Dr. Iott the ability to detect tiny changes which would otherwise have gone unnoticed, and it means that decay or gum recession can be treated sooner, before it spreads.

Panoramic Radiographs
These show the entire mouth area in a single image - both upper and lower teeth. This is done with a specialized panoramic machine, with one part circling behind your head and another part circling in front of you. It's essential that your head remains completely still during this process, and there will be a chin rest, forehead rest, positioners for the sides of the head, and a bite-block for the teeth to close around. It's less intimidating than it might sound, and it uses far less radiation than a set of traditional X-rays.

If you need any type of dentistry, whether cosmetic enhancements, gum therapy, restorative dentistry, or relief from painful TMD symptoms, please call us or send an email to our cosmetic dentists. Your first cosmetic dentistry visit with us will accomplish a great deal - in communication, diagnosis, cancer screening, professional cleaning, digital imaging, and even digital morphing, where you can see how your smile might look after certain cosmetic dentistry procedures have been done. We serve the New York City and Manhattan areas and we hope to meet with you soon.
