Dental Implants & Dentures

New York City

Implants allow you to wear full dentures and partial dentures without worrying that they will slip or fall out. Having implants to support these restorations also means that the base of the restorations can be made much smaller and more comfortable.

Implants with screws placed in the jaw will serve as attachments for a metal bar, which will help support a removable denture. Use of 2 to 6 implants may be used for stability, as necessary. The new denture snaps over the bar and is stabile and very retentive. There are several different attachments which can be used - Clips, O-Rings, or Ball and Cap. The completed fixed-detachable denture sits on top of the implants above the gum tissue. There is enough space under the bridge to allow easy access for maintaining good oral hygiene.

Dental Implant Bar
Dental Implant Prosthesis
Result of Implanted Dentures
This bar is supported by 4 implants in the upper jaw.
This prosthesis is similar to that of a conventional denture with two exceptions:
1. It stays in place better because it snaps to the metal bar.
2. Most of the roof of the mouth is left open to prevent gagging.
An implant supported denture is made for functional reasons.
