If you have one or more missing teeth, dental implants can give you replacement teeth that are as attractive and functional as natural teeth. There are many different options for dental implants, so no matter what your situation, you may be able to have natural-looking teeth to replace those lost.
Dental Implant Options
There are three main categories of dental implants in use today. Subperiosteal implants are elongated and flat, designed to sit on top of the bone. They are used mostly in cases where the jawbone has already decayed because of tooth loss or other situations where the jawbone cannot support an implant. Blade implants are very narrow implants that can be used in situations where the jawbone is slender, but still sufficient. The most common form of implant we use is known as the root form implant, which mimics the form and function of a natural tooth root.
The process of placing root form dental implants is lengthy, but at the end of it, you have fully functional teeth that can let you smile, talk, laugh, and eat normally. In some situations, though, you may be able to receive same day implants, which can be placed and receive their crowns the same day. CEREC-crafted implant crowns allow you to have your crowns the very day you are ready for them, instead of wearing a temporary crown until the final implant is ready.
Dental Implants – Pure Titanium or Alloy?
One Tooth or Many
It doesn't matter how many teeth you need to replace: dental implants can be used for just a single tooth, or we can place multiple tooth implants. Or you can have implant-supported dentures, in which a few implants are used to place an attachment for your removable dentures. These dentures can be placed and removed quickly and set securely on your gums, making it easier to talk and eat with your dentures in place.
