FAQ's Comprehensive Dental Exam

Queens, New York

1. Do I need to provide you with my old x-rays?
FAQ's Comprehensive Dental Exam

It would be most beneficial if you do provide any old x-rays that you can. Certain conditions, such as periodontal disease, are progressive. In order to plan the proper treatment, we need to know if the condition, such as bone loss, is continuing, or if it has been static for a period of time. However, if it is inconvenient or impossible to obtain old x-rays, our state-of-the-art computer imaging programs can give us a very clear picture.

2. What if I just want one specific problem evaluated?

We do provide limited oral exams in certain situations. We will answer any of your questions, diagnose any conditions related to your specific concerns, and recommend treatment. However, we do recommend a comprehensive oral exam prior to full treatment so that your oral health is not just pieced together.

3. What if I don’t want to follow the planned treatment?

Several treatment options will be presented to you. The risks and benefits of each option will be fully explained to you so that you may make a more informed decision. Ultimately, the treatment is up to you.

4. Do you accept insurance?

We do not deal with any insurance companies directly. We will provide you with an itemized statement of any procedure completed, as well as any x-rays, explanations, and intraoral photos so that you may forward them to your insurance carrier. Since most insurance plans have not been updated in the last 35 years, we will not develop treatment plans according to outdated techniques. Learn more...

5. Do I always get a cleaning at my first visit?

Not necessarily - not every patient will receive a cleaning on the very first visit. If it's been many years since your last cleaning, it may take 2 to 3 visits or scaling before polishing. If you have periodontal disease your cleaning will also take more than one visit. But most patients WILL receive a cleaning on the first visit and it will be the only cleaning necessary.
